More color you say?

How about a rainbow? he he. These are just so fun and quick to make. It's fun to play with the colors like this. It doesn't have to be anything but pure fun.

On another note... I've turned my pinwheel sweater into a rug. lol! Odd choice maybe, but it looked like a rug to me and I just didn't see myself wearing it. Wrong yarn choice. So I'm just going to keep the pinwheel going, felt it a bit and wa-lah, rug. I've been really itching to make a rug anyways.

And, yarn is on the way to complete that darn French Market tote. I can't wait to get that off my needles. It's hoggin' the 7's! I won't let myself start E's blanket until I get either that or the rug done. And I'd really like to start that. I'm really into knitting "things for the home" right now as oppossed to things you wear.

However, I did get back to the Blushing Violet Soaker and it's about half done... again...

On a "I'm so proud" note... Hub informed me that Miss N has graduated from two "needles". Apparently each night in the bathroom when he's getting her ready for bed, he gives her Q-tips and she pretends to knit. Well with all this sock and mitten knitting I've been doing, Miss N decided to use double points. She was using three Q-tips this week. Holding one down in her palm poking out and the other two were up knitting. Aww...

And the bad mojo continues...

UGH! I'm bugged. My gauge on the BV soaker is off. My in the round gauge is always off from my straight swatches. GRR... must swatch in the round. SO... riiiiping the soaker. So bugged.

While I'm ripping I decided to rip the Opal socks. I don't like the fabric I'm getting with this gauge. I only started them like this because I was at class and the teacher said it would be ok. But... I'm just not loving them. They will ressurect as something better.

But hey... while the mojo sucks on my gauge... I made another ballband. How's this one for a hot HOT pad?!

I couldn't crop the pic into a cute little square because hub messed with the settings in Photoshop and quite frankly... these days... my skills there are limited.

Miss N loves them. She told me straight away this morning I needed to make more... "more colors" she said. lol! I'm glad my knitting can please my 3 YO and clean up after her at the same time.

Ok, off to wind some yarn back up. Boo Hoo...

Oh, and I ordered the trim for the nighttime soaker. Still need to order more PF for the french market tote. I think I'm going to order the new coral color and some lavendar. I'm thinking I might use the leftovers from the rainbow soaker for the handles in stead of the periwinkle. We'll see. I'm not in the mood to spend money though. Wierd... but it's making me grouchy. You'd think I'd be excited to buy yarn. Quick! Someone take my tempeture.

Wifey, are you makin' a hot pad?

Why yes hub, I am.

No matter what I'm making, hub asks me this question. This time... he was shocked to find the answer... it was! lol! Ballband #1. Don't ask about colors... it's a dishcloth... I followed whatever suited my fancy. And there you have it.

And another WIP... a Blushing Violet Soaker. My first soaker actually. I'm usually a shorts/longies kinda girl, but I've got a hankering for some soakers. We'll just not speak of my woe's on that nighttime soaker. It's swatched, but I have no trim... need to trim shop first.

T's lookin' for a pattern so we can have a lovely Lorna's Laces Daffodil sock KAL. Find somethin' purdy girl! We'll just not mention I haven't finished the Opal socks... so uh... nothing on #2's alright? lol!

Oh, and something to note... I hate Susan Bates Quicksilver needles. Why? Because they make a horrid noise when they rub together. Hub and I were going nuts. It was all I could do not to make a special trip to the store (In the middle of Grey's Anatomy no less!) to find another set of needles to make that dishcloth on. Anyone want some 10" size 7 strights... LMK! Aggghhh!

WOWZERS!

Lookie lookie what came to my house today! My eyes are bugging out. I did a little happy dance! What fun! Do you see this... FUN! T-dog YOU are such a sweetheart! I am very touched.

In case you're not sure this is... Wool interlock fabric, sock yarn which reminds me of spring flowers... my favorites, and a BUNCH of sugar n' cream for a new batch of dishclothes which are much needed. Yay! FUN FUN FUN!

Perhaps this will kick me of my bad knitting mojo. I seem to have a little for some reason. Everything I work on needs to stop because of one issue or another. Now I can blissfully crank out some washrags and have nothing to stop me. Ohhh yeah. :) Did I mention what a sweetheart you are?!

First Socks Complete!

Well, I finished my socks. And... socks are easy! That heel just looks tricky but it's really quite simple! These are slipper socks for sure... very heavyweight. But soft, snuggly and very warm!

I've also been plugging away on the french market tote. This thing is a yarn eater! Man alive it's huge... I need more colors... not sure what yet... looking... suggestions welcome!

I'm on a mission to cut down on the number of projects on the needles. It was really getting out of hand there! lol! Upcoming... a nighttime soaker for E - I need to swatch that soon. And some Ballband washrags.

I picked up a book off the sale table on Saturday at my LYS. It's on knitted rugs. So neat. I really want to do some rugs. I think I'll start with a couple of bath mats though. I'd like to find some Peaches & Cream double worsted. Not sure where to find it though... There's a mitered square rug in the book that is just gorgeous. And one with cables... so many ideas...

Alright... there is shouting and bouncing balls in my living room... sounds dangerous... must run!

Progress

Ok, I've been cranky so I haven't been posting. lol! Not to worry all... eyes getting checked tomorrow. Hopefully my failing eyesight is the cause of all these headaches. If it's just my three year old's incessant chatter that's causing them, I could be in trouble.

Ok, first up socks!

I started the very pretty (the picture doesn't do it justice... nor does that napkin stuffed inside it...) ribbed pair with Opal Sock Yarn on size 2DPN's. And then... I realized they were giving me a headache... and realized after knitting a full cuff and starting a second, that perhaps... on my very first pair... it might be wise to go with a thicker yarn.

So, I started the second pair which is now my first pair... with some stash yarn - Swish Superwash - on size 7DPN's. Ahhh... much better on the eyes. Lesson I learned here. Neither Fred Meyers nor Michaels carry sock yarn or any decent sized DPN's. They each had like one set in some odd size. What is that all about anyway?! Annoying! So, I reached deep and came up with the Swish on 7's. lol! Too bad my LYS is so far from me.

Now it's been a bit since I started those... and now I'm almost done with one sock! I have the cuff for it's mate done, so I just need to start at the heel. Socks are deceptively easy. I'm not sure if I'll wait until my last class on Saturday to finish this up or just do it now. I could play dumb and wait. lol! Or be the smarty pants who already knows kitchner and do it ahead... hmm... will see.

Sorry for the terrible pic. It's terrible weather outside and I'm not getting any decent like inside and quite frankly... I don't feel like going through the whole process again. I'll get a prettier one when the pair is done. Which should be next week.

Now, when my eyes are really failing me... I've been picking up my French Market Tote. I'm working in a beachy stripes color scheme here... it's taking forever it seems. Perhaps it's just so disheartening knowing I'm going to knit this big old thing and then shrink the crap out of it. I may not be a felter. lol!

And... my lovely mail woman brought me today... the other two colors I needed for Miss E's Modern Log Cabin blanket. Yay! I think I really need to get going if I have any hope of getting it done before her birthday mid-April. I really can't wait to get started, but...

I need to finish this gift, and the first pair of socks before doing so. This is my pledge! lol! I just feel like my pile of project bags is a bit big at the moment. lol! I'll post pic's of the mystery project after the recipient gets it. I'll preface it by saying... it's really not my style... but it IS the style of the recipient and that's what's important right?! At least I hope it's their style... I'm trying!

Oh, and I am to the armholes on the Bulky Pinwheel, but I need to learn a bit of something new so it's been on hold for some quiet time. I thought about posting a picture, but it really looks the same, just bigger. And... didn't I mention I'm headachy and cranky?!

Alright curious knitters, that's my update! Now back to your needles!

Riiiiipppp

Did you hear that? That was me frogging E's blanket. Turns out I don't like the fabric I'm getting. It's too bulky for my taste. SO... instead, I think I'm going to do the Modern Baby Blanket from MDK. But of course... I need a couple more colors... so it's on hold until next payday or I get my behind in gear and sell some of this junk around here I don't need.

In the meantime, since I don't need all that Swish for her blanket I'm going to use some for a pair of socks. That way I can have a pair on a heavier yarn so I can actually SEE what I'm doing when I attempt my first heels. So, the next two nights... cuff city baby.

And, I started something else. Well two somethings. I have a problem. Seriously.

I started a pair of fingerless mitt's... they're a gift, so shhh... no peeking yet.

And I started a crocheted felted bag in Lion Wool. I'm so impatient with my French Market tote. I really like Peace Fleece, but I seem to HATE knitting with it. It's agony... and this bag is taking forever. So I needed some quick gratification. I should finish it really soon. Crochet goes so darn fast. It's terrible that Lion Wool is available where I buy my groceries... really... cheap yarn fix at the grocery store. Could you ask for more?!

The sweater and I are not getting along. I'm not sure if I like it. So I'm just looking at it for now.

And Hub's hat... well that needs some math and swatching and a little more math... and I'm not feeling that smart right now. So it's waiting for me to get better sleep.
